34 Days to go

Filed under: CCIE — antoniehenning @ 3:38 pm

Today progress is slow, finished lab19 and started with 20. Lab19 is rated as a 10 which I would rather say is more of a 8-9. The only tricky bit is the bgp section and the multicast section which requires a bsr instead of auto rp. Managed to do 7 hours so far today, planning to do another 3 tonight. I must try and get as far as possible into lab 20. Tomorrow I want to do some reviewing before the assessor lab.

Arden Packeer passed today. Congrats to him! With Ethan and now Arden passing, Im starting to believe that I can do it as well.

10:55pm Last session was a bit more focussed. Got to full reachability, starting tomorrow at BGP. This is about the point I was yesterday in lab19, so no ground gained today. Need to have a focussed session tomorrow morning. The time/new information ratio is low in the basic setup of the igp networks and bgp peering… from now on, if the section doesnt require any advance feature I’ll copy paste from the SG to save time. I’ll be pretty glad to be finished with labs 1-20. On saturday I’ll start again from lab1 working through the next two week to lab10. I’ll read through lab11 – lab20 again at some time.

Two notes to make stp path manipulation easier when a restrictions are not to use cost, dont use port-priority or a specific device needs to configured to make the stp topology change:
1. use cost on the blocked/root port
2. use port-priority on designated port
or cost is local, port-priority is remote. Thus for short ‘cost is local’. Therefore port-priority is obviously remote.
